Features

The Astro Garmin 320 pet tracker is a high spec, high cost, gps tracker that is designed for multiple dog owners. The base unit can keep track of up to 10 dogs, it comes with one  T 5  tracking device but more can easily be added.

Extended Range Pet Tracker

This is the favored pet tracker of hunting dog trainers in the United States, and is approved by the American Kennel Club. The range can be as much as 9 miles when in flat open country, with your dogs position updated tracked as often as every 5 seconds.

The technology used for tracking is GPS, which is ideal for those who are in areas of patchy cellular coverage. The A320 bundle from Garmin is supplied with a 5" standard and a 13" extended antennae for rougher terrain.

Tough as Nails with no Hidden Charges.

This tracker has an IP rating of IPX7, this rating means it is able to with stand snow, rain and even full immersion in water to a depth of 3 feet for up to 30 minutes.

Using a GPS as the tracking system also has the advantage of no setup or ongoing subscription fees, cellular pet trackers may well charge monthly subscriptions to use the technology.

Enhanced Mapping

The Astro 320 is also to store enhanced map data on a MicroSD card which enables the downloading of TOPO US maps which shows map contours.
Alternatively you could download City Navigator NT maps for road navigation for those in more domestic settingss.

You can download Birdseye Satellite Imagery but there is a subscription cost for this service.

Quick Features

  • Track up to 10 dogs.
  • No Subscription GPS Tracking.
  • 20-40 hour rechargeable battery life.
  • Rugged and great waterproofing rating (IPX7).
  • Extended line of sight range of up to 9 miles.

Conclusion:

It is very hard to fault the Garmin A320 pet tracker. Its rugged design means you can use it in all weathers and it should last for years but its professional roots mean it is expensive for an average dog owner.

Unless you are a training hunting dogs or have a large number of dogs to keep an eye on there may well be cheaper alternatives.
